All Together Now! – A Global Event Celebrating Local Theatre celebrates the return of live theatre! This exciting, one weekend only exclusive musical revue features songs from MTI’s beloved shows such as Les Miserables, Rent, Frozen, Guys and Dolls… and many more!

The tale of ten men, four boats, and two great rivers, told on stage entirely without boats, rivers…or men! Pack your gear for this twenty-first century telling of nineteenth-century American explorer and one-armed Civil War veteran John Wesley Powell, who assembles a brawny band of soldiers, trappers, and adventurers to explore the waterways of the American West. Inspired by Powell’s actual travel log from 1869, Jaclyn Backhaus’s nimble and ingenious script is provocative, laugh-out-loud theater, performed by a cast of female and nonbinary actors who infuse America’s legends of male conquest with a sly blast of subtext.

Four badass women try not to lose their heads in this irreverent, rebellious comedy set during the French Revolution. Amidst the Reign of Terror, four renegades—an assassin, a spy, a writer, and, of course, Marie Antoinette—hang out, plot to murder Marat, find friendship, and try to beat back extremist insanity in Paris. With sharp knives and sharper wit, the quartet takes us on an exploration of art, terrorism, and how we actually go about changing the world.

In the Summer of 2012, Fred Pitts finds himself on a mission to explore every California Mission. What started as a simple tourist road trip became an examination of his fellow tourists and Mission docents. Some are experts on the Catholic Church, a few are experts on Native American history, others are experts on…everything else. Yet, they have one thing in common: they are all experts on which famous Black person he resembles. (This show completes our 2020-21 season and is included for 20-21 season subscribers. It is a complimentary bonus for 21-22 season subscribers.)

Welcome back and welcome home to celebrate Palo Alto Players legacy and future! June is our birthday month and since it’s not every day you turn 90, we are celebrating with a series of virtual gatherings all month long and a one-night-only gala event on June 27th. Join us in-person at the Lucie Stern Theater for the first time since the pandemic or virtually from anywhere as we honor Palo Alto Players’ 90th Anniversary through story and song and raise funds for the next 90 years and beyond.

What is it like for a woman when her husband becomes the president of the United States—and she is suddenly thrust into the spotlight? This witty, sly and deeply moving script explores the hopes, fears and loves of Lady Bird Johnson, Pat Nixon and Betty Ford. Each of the three portraits becomes intimate, by degrees, as the women wrestle with what Pat Nixon called “the hardest unpaid job in the world.”
