Accessibility

Assistive listening devices and wheelchair access are available. ASL and Audio Described interpretation at selected performances.

Wheelchair Access

The Lucie Stern Theater is equipped with an ADA-compliant section which can accommodate patrons with limited mobility. On-aisle transfer seats may also be available in other sections. To purchase wheelchair accessible, transfer and companion seats, please call the box office at 650-329-0891 during business hours.

Assistive Listening Devices

Headsets are available in the lobby prior to each performance. You will be asked to leave your ID until the headset is returned. Persons with disabilities who require information on auxiliary aids or services in using the City of Palo Alto facilities, services, or programs or who would like information on the City’s compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, may contact: ADA Coordinator, City of Palo Alto, 650-463-4952 (Voice) or [email protected] (Internet).

ASL Interpreted Performances

Some performances feature live American Sign Language interpretation. Interpreters will be positioned in front of the stage in the house left section. We recommend that you choose seats on the left side of the theatre for the best view. Please visit show pages for dates and details.

Audio Described Performances

Audio Description is available for select performances. Audience members who are blind or low vision may reserve listening devices which transmit a trained describer’s description of what is happening on stage during pauses in dialogue. Haptic access tours (20-30 minutes) are a live pre-show tour that allow patrons to experience—through touch and their own movement—the space, performers, costumes and objects in addition to key movement elements in the performance. We recommend that visually impaired patrons choose “AD” tickets, which will reserve that person’s audio listening device. You may also contact the box office to reserve an audio device – and to let us know if you’re bringing a guide dog. Please visit show pages for dates and details.
