SYNOPSIS: There must be 525,600 reasons to experience this breathtaking re-imagining of Puccini's La Bohème as it follows the triumphs and tragedies of eight young bohemians in New York’s East Village. Mark, Roger, Mimi and their urban tribe of friends and lovers search for inspiration, passion, and identity in a world rife with heartache and pain. As they face challenges of poverty, mortality and…paying the rent…they discover beauty in the grit and grime of Manhattan and come to realize life is about falling in love, finding your voice, and living for today.

THE CAST: (All roles in the 20s-30s range. All ethnicities encouraged.)
Angel – (C3 – A4, Tenor) A transvestite street drummer infected with HIV. Incredible dancer with a magnetic personality.

Benjamin – (Eb3 – F4, Tenor) Wealthy landlord of Mark and Roger’s building. Benny wants to start a multimedia studio.

Joanne – (Bb3 – A5, Alto) A headstrong public interest lawyer, and Maureen’s lover.

Mark – (C#3 – G4, Tenor) A filmmaker and video artist, determined to capture “real” life on film. Roger’s roommate.

Maureen – (C4 – F5, Soprano Belt) A performance artist and Mark’s ex-girlfriend.

Mimi – (F#3 – E5, Alto) A dancer with AIDS and a drug problem. Desperate for a place to feel safe and protected.

Roger – (B2 – A4, Tenor) An edgy, struggling musician who’s HIV+. He hopes to write one last meaningful song before he dies.

Tom – (F#2 – A4, Baritenor) An HIV+ computer genius who has recently returned to New York after an absence. Has a deep capacity for love and understanding.

Ensemble - 4 men and 3 women. Wide ranges, sopranos who can belt and rock/pop baritones and tenors. Need to act and move very well.
